Shaped by Memory
Shaped by Memory began as a quiet reflection on time, loss, and care, and gradually became a meditation on presence and ritual. Drawn by the subtle rhythms of a small island in the water where flowers are placed, left to fade, and renewed, Marlike Marks photographed the evolving landscape and observed the gestures of those who tend to it.
Through her photographs, she documented the quiet rhythm of the place and the effect of returning each week, while the story of the island remains unknown, leaving space for imagination, interpretation, and the projection of one’s own stories.
