Strange Clouds
Strange Clouds was made during the first months of the global Corona pandemic in 2020, when everyday life came to an abrupt standstill. For Marlike Marks, this period of quarantine marked the beginning of a new body of work. She started a photographic journal, making daily Polaroids that recorded her suddenly altered reality of staying indoors, without work and without company.
Her home and immediate surroundings became the canvas for the series. Through self-portraits and still lifes, she intuitively documented her daily life, emotions, and state of mind. Each image is unique, not reproducible: a frozen moment from my life, captured in one single Polaroid.
All Polaroids were sold directly via Instagram during this period and are now sold out. The complete series was later brought together in a book, created as a personal record of the quarantine period, of which a small number of copies remain available.
